Day 3 of the Galveston Mission

Don really did pose for this picture!  You can tell by the bald head, fetching smile and his well used suite case.  Also the cute white gloves.
Wednesday 6-3-09 from Bobby.

Wow what a day! We started work at the site at 07:30 this morning. That means that we got up early, young folks and all.  I am so proud of our young people.  They have come together and worked as a real team.  I was sort of a grumpy old guy when we started on Monday and could not figure out why the boys couldn’t operate some of the tools, like a screw gun for putting up drywall.  Then, Tuesday I slowed down and actually gave them some instructions and they took off and did a great job.  We will finish the drywall tomorrow and get some mud work done.  The girls have worked harder than all of us, scraping the floor, which they finished today.  They are all fantastic people and their parents and Church can be proud of them.  We saw the big fire today as we were leaving the island and tonight I talked with a Galveston firefighter who is also the arson investigator.  More about that later.  Now I am going to bed and let our fearless leader take over and upload some pics.

Thanks to all who sent us here. Bobby

What a day!

We started on the job site at 7:30 this morning.  I must admit that it was a little slow getting the students up, however; once we got going, it was all good.  God continues to bless the ministry on the island.  Today, our group finally finished the scraping upstairs.  By tomorrow, the sheet rock should be done and then on to mudding and taping.  I am so proud of our students.  They have been wonderful.  They have done everything that has been asked of them even when it wasn’t exactly what they wanted to do.  Our sponsors continue to shine as they lead our students and show them how to do the tasks that are given.  In my opinion, they have done us all proud.  We did have a little free time this afternoon and took a ride down to the Strand and visited the Chocolate Factory.  Talk about a kid in the candy store! Tonight we joined our host church and my home church, First Baptist La Marque for worship.  They asked me to lead and I had several of the students join me. It was a sweet time of fellowship had by all.  We feel your prayers from 450 plus miles away and thank you so much for this opportunity to represent our church but most importantly our Lord and Savior.

Until next time, Keep Looking Up!
